Lauren Nelson was crowned Miss America 2007 at the age of 20. Lauren launched a nationwide platform of internet safety, Be NetSmart – Protecting Kids Online. As

Miss America, she traveled the country raising awareness of internet safety and Children's Miracle Network.

Lauren was honored with the prestigious TOYA Award by the United States Junior Chamber Organization in 2008 naming her as one of the "Ten Outstanding Young Americans".

Lauren is an accomplished singer and performer and has shared the stage with Shirley Jones and Patrick Cassidy in "Carousel".

Lauren is currently completing her undergraduate degree at the University of Central Oklahoma where she is majoring in Public Relations. Lauren is the co-host of First at Four on News9, the Oklahoma City CBS news affiliate. She also works as an ambassador for UCO, employed by the office of University President, Dr. Roger Webb.

Lauren speaks for various women's events, youth retreats and charitable organizations. Lauren and her friend Robin Marsh have currently finished writing a devotional book for teen girls due out January 2012. She and her husband, Randy live in Edmond, Oklahoma and lead worship on Wednesday nights for the youth and on Sunday mornings for the Contemporary worship service at Edmond's First Baptist Church.
